Philanthropist SPS Oberoi all geared up to promote Gatka in Europe

During his recent visit to Paris, France, renowned philanthropist Prof (Dr) SPS Oberoi was honoured by Sdr Gurdial Singh (President, Gatka Federation, France) along with other renowned Sikh personalities of France namely Sdr Iqbal Singh, Talvinder Kaur, Rajbir Singh.

A die hard sports enthusiast and an ardent promoter of Gatka (Ancient Martial Arts), Dr Oberoi had an elaborate discussion with them on the promotion of Gatka in European countries as well as the launch of Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust Office in Paris, France.

Dr Oberoi has tirelessly crusaded for celebrating and showcasing the rich Glory and diverse cultural Heritage of India. A prime instance in this context being his painstaking efforts and initiatives in promoting the glorious “Gatka Martial Arts” tradition by financially aiding various sporting competitions as well as cultural events to help push the cause of the country’s ageless Martial Arts.

With the aim of encouraging the Gatka sports enthusiasts, Oberoi’s Charitable Trust “Sarbat Da Bhala” has always been in the forefront for recognizing and awarding the unsung talent from not just the state of Punjab, but from different nooks and corners of the globe.

Incidentally Oberoi himself has played a pivotal role in motivating countless youths towards making sports as a full time professional career. He has been assiduously working on realizing his long cherished dream of taking Gatka to Olympics in the near future.

Founder and President of Sarbat Da Bhala International Charitable Trust Prof (Dr) SPS Oberoi was recently honoured with the “Philanthropist of the Year 2019” award along with “Medal of Paris” & “Award for Peace”, and a Diploma during  X11th World Scientific Congress Seminar hosted at Paris, France.

The award and the medals were presented to Dr Oberoi by Dr Agop Kerkiacharian, President ARARAT (International Academy of Sciences France),  Prof (Dr) Shanti, Founder of IUFS ( International University of Fundamental Studies, Russia) & Dr Marcel Valentin – AIAS (International Academy of Sciences, France).

The high profile event was graced by the presence of many distinguished personalities notable among them being the likes of UNESCO ex President & Ambassadors, High Commissioners, as well as renowned Scientists from more than 32 countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Oberoi said, “I feel overwhelmed with all the accolades conferred on me at the X11th World Scientific Congress Seminar hosted in Paris, France. I was chosen for the prestigious honours on the grounds of humanitarian welfare and charitable dynamism. It is a matter of immense pride to have been illuminated with the various concerns and strategies shared by renowned social and peace activists, UNESCO officials as well as delegates from more than 32 countries through this Global Congress.”

Through his international charitable trust named “Sarbat Da Bhala” which means “Welfare of All, Dubai based Indian businessman Dr SPS Oberoi has accomplished countless humanitarian missions since the last three decades. Over the years, Philanthropy has become a way of life for him. Oberoi shot to fame when he gave the blood money for saving the lives of 17 Indian youths that had been handed the death sentence by a Sharjah civil court for murdering a Pakistan based man some years ago. Ever since, he has been instrumental in saving many lives from the gallows. Dr Oberoi’s noble deeds have earned him the sobriquet “Saviour Singh”, and he is widely regarded as a “Divine Emissary”. He was awarded the world’s first ever Causa Grand PhD in Philanthropy by the International University of Fundamental Studies, Russia which is affiliated with the Oxford Education Network, International Parliament of Safety & Peace and California University. The Causa Grand PhD in Philanthropy was preceded by another big honour when Prince Marcello, the Prince of Consular Corps of the Principality of Seborga in an official ceremony chose him as their Honorary Consul General for Republic of India. With this honour, Dr Oberoi became the first Sikh to represent a European Country in India. For his work in bringing around a change in the socio-economic structure of the society, he has received awards at the World Science Congress—United Nations, and House of Lords—London. He is a recipient of the Gold Medal by the Grand Prix Humanitarian Association, France, and the Punjab Ratan Award in India.

In addition, he has undertaken prestigious projects with renowned social organizations and corporate establishments in the last few years. A native of Prayagraj, Ankit’s enviable in-depth knowledge coupled with his incisive fair and fearless analysis has been the hallmark of his growing popularity on the National TV.
